Richmond Early Years Precinct Team Leader

Permanent Full Time 

Band 6 - $94,850.87 - $103,260.68 + super + RDO

A new and exciting opportunity is waiting for a highly experienced, trauma informed Team Leader in Richmond! 

The role will encompass the team leadership of Yarra's Richmond Early Years Precinct including:

  • Richmond Kindergarten - licensed for 66 places
  • Yarraberg Children's Centre - Licensed for 54 places

The pedagogy and practice in our services are founded on the values of inclusion, voice of the child, trauma informed practice, environmental sustainability and meeting the individual needs of children and families. 

To support the team of highly dedicated educators, the Team Leader will sit within a leadership team comprising of the following: 

  • A full-time Early Learning Precinct Coordinator
  • A full-time off the floor Precinct Team Leader
  • A full-time off the floor Precinct Educational Leader

The Precinct Team Leader will also be working as part of a team in the Family, Youth and Children's Services. We are committed to exploring and implementing the latest approaches to pedagogy with a particular focus on positive psychology, trauma practice and humanist theorists.

The qualities we are looking in our candidate include:

  • Experience in leading an Education and Care service with particular strength in the finances, compliance and human resource management of education and care. 
  • Understanding and experience working with children and families with complex needs
  • Ability to foster an environment of innovation amongst the team.
  • Proven experience with the planning and implementation of service projects. 

To support the team of highly dedicated educators, the Team Leader will sit within a leadership team comprising of the following: 

  • A full-time Early Learning Precinct Coordinator
  • A full-time off the floor Precinct Educational Leader
  • A part-time off the floor Customer and Business Support Officer

The Precinct Team Leader will also be working as part of a team in the Yarra Family, Youth and Children's Services that includes the support of:

  • A Team Leader - Early Years Operations - Early Years
  • A Team Leader - Pedagogy and Practice
  • Connie Benn Community Hub Coordinator
  • CALD outreach officer
  • Access to Early Learning Facilitator
  • Pre-School Field Officers
  • A peer group of dedicated Early Learning Centre Coordinators and Early Childhood Teachers
  • Broader branch Coordinators including Youth & Middle Years, Family Services and Service Planning and Development
  • Broader Council support such as People and Culture, Finance, Communications, Open Space and Buildings.

The qualities we are looking in our candidate include:

  • Experience in leading an Education and Care service with particular strength in the finances, compliance and human resource management of education and care. 
  • Understanding and experience working with children and families with complex needs including, trauma experiences and diagnosed behavioural and/or physical needs in a way that empowers them.
  • Understanding of humanist psychological theories and how they are applied in practice.
  • Ability to foster an environment of innovation amongst the team.
  • Proven experience with the planning and implementation of service projects.
